Femoral prosthesis infection by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa.
This case report is a case history of a femoral prosthesis infection caused by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa in a human immunodeficiency virus patient. Though the pathogenicity of this organism for bone tissue has been previously reported, this is the first reported case of an orthopedic prosthesis infection by this species of the genus Rhodotorula.
متن کاملGenetic analysis of D-xylose metabolism by endophytic yeast strains of Rhodotorula graminis and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa
Two novel endophytic yeast strains, WP1 and PTD3, isolated from within the stems of poplar (Populus) trees, were genetically characterized with respect to their xylose metabolism genes. These two strains, belonging to the species Rhodotorula graminis and R. mucilaginosa, respectively, utilize both hexose and pentose sugars, including the common plant pentose sugar, D-xylose. The xylose reductas...

Rhodotorula yeasts were isolated from various local sources in Damascus, Syria, during 2012 and 2013. Fifty isolates (23 from leaves trees, 13 from different soils, 6 from different meats, 6 from dairy products, 1 pickle and 1 traditional sweet) were identified using API 20C AUX system. Isolated yeasts were classified into three Rhodotorula species: R. mucilaginosa, R. glutinis and R. minuta re...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, an Emergent Opportunistic Pathogen
Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, a yeast with valuable biotechnological features, has also been recorded as an emergent opportunistic pathogen that might cause disease in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of R. mucilaginosa strain C2.5t1, which was isolated from cacao seeds in Cameroon.
متن کاملRhodotorula mucilaginosa as a cause of persistent femoral nonunion.
We present a case of postoperative infection which presented as nonunion fracture femur in a 30-year-old man due to Rhodotorula mucilaginosa. This is the first report of Rhodotorula infection in a patient with fracture nonunion. The patient underwent repeated surgical debridement and received intensive antibiotic therapy before the diagnosis was made. The diagnosis could have been made earlier ...
